What are CR3 Steels? CR3 steels are deep drawing quality mild steel implied in ISO 3574 and is classified equivalent to SPCE steels in JIS standard. CR3 Steels are applicable for deep drawing processes that are applicable for minimal extend. Deep drawing processes are those where depth of drawn part is more as compare to the diameter of the part to be drawn.Dimensional Range of CR3 Steel: CR3 Steels is available from thickness range 0.25 mm to 4.0 mm. The width is usually 950 mm, 1219 mm, 1500 mm and 2000 mm.
Chemical Composition of CR3 Steel: The chemical composition of CR3 Steels is comprised 0.10 percent of Carbon maximum, 0.45 percent of manganese maximum, 0.030 percent of Sulphur maximum, 0.04 percent of Phosphorous maximum, and remaining percentage is of iron (Fe) with negligible impurities.
Mechanical Properties of CR3 Steel: The mechanical properties of CR3 Steels are analogous to SPCE steels, but unlike the JIS G3141 standard, the ISO 3574 standard does not classify the least tensile strength but it ascertains the maximum range. The maximum yield strength is 220 MPa, the tensile strength is 350 MPa and minimum elongation is 35 percent. The hardness is 50 HRB maximum.
As compare to CR2 Steel, this grade of steel is more plastic & adequate for deep drawing operations.
