What is SPCE Steels? SPCE steels are deep drawing quality cold rolled steels, which are consumed for drawing applications. This material is valid for drawing operation where the depth of the drawn part exceeds its diameter.Dimensional Characteristics of SPCE Steels: The appropriate thickness for this SPCE material as demarcated in the JIS G3141 starts from 0.25 mm to 2.5 mm. However the width of SPCE material ranges to 2000 mm.

The Chemical Composition of SPCE Steels: JIS G 3141 describes the chemical composition of SPCE steels as under:

  • Maximum percentage of Carbon (C) is 0.10 percent.
  • Maximum percentage of Manganese (Mn) is 0.45 percent.
  • Maximum percentage of Phosphorous (P) is 0.030 percent.
  • Maximum percentage of Sulphur (S) is 0.030 percent.

Left over is iron (Fe) percentage and with few negligible impurities.

Mechanical Properties of SPCE Steels: Following are some of the mechanical properties of SPCE steels:

  • The tensile strength of the SPCE Steels is expressed in Newton per millimeters and it must be at-least 270 N/mm2 (MPa), whereas the yield strength is maximum 220 N/mm2 (MPa).
  • The elongation property of SPCE steel varies with the ranges of thickness.
  • The minimum percentage ranges for elongation is from 32 to 43 percent starting from 0.25 mm to 2.5 mm and over.
  • The weld ability of these materials is conformed.

SPCE steels can be drawn to a greater depth and more flexibly as compare to SPCD steels.
